This has always been a hard subject for me.  I do so much because it needs to be done instead of a like or want to do it. So why not make a page dedicated to it?  If we never push ourselves we never expand our horizons.

Technology

I’m of the Xennial generation.  Due to that, technology and technological change has played a large role in my life.  I lean more towards Gen Xer’s than the Millennial crowd however.
For a large portion of my life, I felt like computers were toys.  Little did I know it would end up being my profession. I ended up having a lifelong affliction with epilepsy beginning at age 16, so gaming has never been big to me.
I enjoy the process of taking old relics of our past and finding new uses for them however.

Trek

Since a young age, I found a love of Star Trek when I came across a VHS tape at our local library of this new TV series called Star Trek The Next Generation, of the pilot episode, Encounter at Farpoint.

Since the mid 90’s, there has been many groups of Trek fans who wanted to build a monument to the Star Trek captain who led the 4th Star Trek Series, Voyager. Kathryn Janeway, born in my hometown and created by someone who graduated from IU and spent her formative years here, Jeri Taylor.

Little did I know, but I would be part of the group that actually accomplished it and was the 2nd president of the Janeway Collective.

Automotive

I was a junkyard kid, and my love of automobiles and motorcycles began at an early age.  I learned to drive at 7, starting with tractors and farm equipment. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve found myself going back to this original love as a means of escape and release from daily struggles.

Old Rides

These are but a few of the vehicles I’ve owned over the years. Each one gave me something that I miss.

Travel

From an early age, I was traveling across our country. I often tell people I grew up in the back of my dad’s Chevy Blazer. We were always going somewhere. Quite often I make trips circling this country. For me, it’s always been about the journey, not always the destination. I often find my peace and my center while I’m behind the wheel.

Road Trip 2016

My cousin was getting married, and there was lots of things happening in this country. I took a friend, who ended up becoming my girlfriend by the time the trip happened and we went. It was a blast, we made memories that will stay with us forever.

Family Vacation 2017

The next year we did the craziest thing imaginable. We packed up 5 people and equipment and decided to go to Yellowstone. My poor girlfriend couldn’t reach the pedals on my Jeep, so I had to do all of the driving duties. I’d love to have more time and go back again, but with less people.

Spring Break 2019

My youngest daughter hadn’t been to our ancestral home in Oklahoma yet, and I wanted to see my friends in NOLA. So she and I made a mad dash west and south. We also stopped in Dallas to go to Dealey Plaza, as she loves presidential history. I didn’t want to leave NOLA, and am going back this summer my return was cancelled due to a worldwide pandemic, perhaps you’ve heard of it. I am returning for the summer of 2021 however.

Vacation 2021

We finally did it, and then some. My friend was able to do his vacation while we got one of our own, and then some. We first stopped at Space Camp, then I paid respects to the lonesome drifter. A gator ate my wallet, we stayed at a overpriced crappy beach resort that tried to charge me twice. My girlfriend got to finally meet her half sister. We went to the ends of Louisiana and bought all the things in the French Quarter.

Spring Break 2024

My copilot and I ventured forth to the great white north where I took her on a trip her mom had been on, but under a much tighter timeline. We also stopped in Michigan to visit some places we were originally going to visit with my uncle who passed away unexpectedly.
